Cake Smash Photo Shoots

Is your little ones birthday coming up soon? Well a cake smash photo shoot might be the perfect present!

Cake smash photo shoots give your child the opportunity to celebrate their 1st or 2nd birthday in a fun and messy way. We guarantee it'll put a smile on their face - and yours, when you know you can leave the cleaning up to us!

We offer 3 cake smash packages which can be seen below -

Our most popular display option for cake smash images is arranging your favourites onto a 15x15 collage canvas, but we also provide a range of print sizes and USBs.

Frequently Asked Questions -

~ What should my little one wear? ~
Anything you like! We've had all sorts from tutus, mini suit jackets and all-in-ones. It is completely up to you.

~ Shall I bring a change of clothes? ~
Definitely! By the end of the photo shoot, your child will most likely be covered in cake crumbs and icing so a change of clothes is a good idea.

~ Can I bring along some toys? ~
Of course, bring along anything that you think will keep your child entertained, a favourite toy perhaps. In the past, the toys have even joined in with the cake smash! We have a selection of toys in the studio that your little one can use if they'd like to.

~ Do I need to provide the cake? ~
Due to our insurance policy, you do need to provide the cake.

~ What kind of cake should I buy? ~
I think the more colourful the cake is, the better! I also recommend that you buy a cake with lots of icing, then it's easier to smash (and easier to get messy!).

~ Will I get messy too? ~
Most likely! Showing your little one how to interact with the cake will encourage them to try it themselves. I would advise bringing along some baby wipes to clean your hands, but if you forget, don't worry, we have plenty.

Cake smash is obviously about having fun and getting messy, but a common concern that parents have is what if their child doesn't want to get messy, doesn't like the experience, or doesn't co-operate during the shoot. All I can say is don't worry. I understand that being allowed to play with food can be a bit strange to a child, especially when children are generally taught not to mess around with their food. I always aim to make children feel as relaxed as possible in the studio but if they're unsure or get upset, that is absolutely fine.

During one particular cake smash shoot, the little boy found the studio a bit scary and after a few photographs, he became quite upset and didn't like being on the other side of the room to mum. I never, ever push a child into taking part in a shoot that they don't want to be involved in. So instead, I put the camera down, put on some Peppa Pig and chatted with mum. The environment suddenly became a lot more relaxed for the boy and soon enough, he seemed more comfortable and happy to continue the cake smash.

If in the instance your little one still isn't comfortable with doing the cake smash, then I am more than happy to try again another day. We can arrange another date and you can come back to try again at no extra charge. My number one priority is making sure your little one is happy in the studio.
